Narayan Sarovar
One of the five holy lakes of Hinduism, a key highlight of Kutch for its natural beauty and religious significance.
About Narayan Sarovar
Narayan Sarovar lake is one of the key highlights of the Kutch district for its natural beauty and huge religious significance. It is one of the five holy lakes of Hinduism, along with Mansarovar in Tibet, Pampa in Karnataka, Bhuvaneshwar in Orissa and Pushkar in Rajasthan. Legend from the Puranic era tells of a time of drought when Narayan — a form of Lord Vishnu — appeared in response to the prayers of sages and touched the land with his toe, creating the lake. The surrounding area is rich with flora and fauna, and one can often spot the chinkara antelope nearby.
