Kalo Dungar — The Black Hill
The highest point in Kutch and the guardian of its western border, with panoramic views of the White Rann.
About Kalo Dungar — The Black Hill
The guardian of the western border of Kutch, famous Kalo Dungar is also called the Black Hill. The highest point in Kutch, it is a very attractive place that everyone should visit at least once. Legend says Lord Dattatreya once came here and fed the jackals with his own body, which kept regenerating — hence the Dattatreya Temple on top of the hill. It is popular as probably the only place in Kutch offering an amazing panoramic view of the White Rann, and it is one of the closest civilian points to the Indo-Pak border. It is also known for a strange phenomenon where vehicles appear to hurtle up the slope on their own.
